VIS Celebration of Vilnius 700!

CELEBRATING VILNIUS 700 YEARS IN PYP

The VIS vision statement is “To be the reason families make Vilnius their home”. VIS PYP learners recognised Vilnius’ birthday by dressing up as a relevant character in Vilnius’ past or present. 

We can’t celebrate a birthday without cake. We invited families to decorate a cake to bring to school on the 25th. We included the cakes in a Cake Walk. A cake walk started as a game of musical chairs. The winner of each game was invited to choose a cake to take back to their class to share. The participants in the cake walk were the winners of each classes' costume contest.

What does Vilnius mean to me? All grades 6 through 12 students explored this personal connection with Vilnius during their Lithuanian classes over the course of the week. Students were introduced to the first image of Vilnius and read poetry that served to contemplate their past experiences.

Also, in the Upper School our P.E. and Art teachers colaborated to host the dance battles in celebration of Vilnius 700!
