School life
We strive to create an environment that supports the learning, personal growth, wellbeing and safety of all members of the school community.
The school calendar keeps you updated on important events and is updated regularly. Also see the weekly newsletter to enrolled families.
12 Grade 9 students will take part in an unacccompanied two-day overnight expedition in the Labanoras forest with just a map and compass to guide them. Successful completion of the expedition will grant them a bronze level award. A test expedition with other Lithuanian schools is taking place in the Prienai district on May 10th and 11th.
Fifteen students from Grades 8 and 9 will take part as delegates representing countries on the UN Security Council, tackling pressing global issues through debate and diplomacy. The conference is a valuable opportunity for students to build confidence, develop their public speaking skills, and deepen their understanding of international affairs while working together toward drafting meaningful resolutions to real-world challenges. We will celebrate the milestone of finishing the Middle Years Programme with our 10th graders and their parents. We look forward to hosting parents for dinner at the VIS cafe with a short awards ceremony to follow.
CF Atrium
The Changemaker Challenge motivates young people to identify and pitch ideas on how to confront real challenges they face in our world. Grade 9 students will showcase the processes involved in solving the issues they chose to pursue, including overcrowding in animal shelters, access to illegal substances, Lithuania’s nuclear power, population decrease in Lithuania, and mental health. Students will present their projects to experts and guests from the University of Evansville and Ball State University, who will provide live streamed feedback on how to move student ideas forward. Interactive conversations with student peers will take place one week prior to the showcase. CF
Our tradition continues with EC students presenting their learning journies, and older students selling or bartering their lightly used belonging or baked goods in the PYP yard. More information is forthcoming.

School holidays at Vilnius International School provide students with time to rest, recharge, and explore new interests. That said, we expect families to respect our school calendar and plan vacations accordingly. VIS has a rather short school year compared to international schools globally, please do not plan to withdraw students early for summer camps. Demonstrate that you take learning seriously by being our partners.
After-school activities at Vilnius International School offer students a chance to explore their interests, develop new skills, and build lasting friendships. From sports and arts to leadership programs and community service, there’s something for everyone.
These activities encourage creativity, teamwork, and personal growth in a fun and supportive environment. Students can discover new passions while gaining valuable experiences beyond the classroom.
Please note that breakfast and afternoon snacks are provided to Early Childhood learners only, while lunch is provided to all VIS students.
