Cambridge International AS/A Levels

The Upper School Programme is designed as a rigorous and challenging English language curriculum for international and Lithuanian students. The VIS Upper School curriculum is comprised of two programmes: Grades 6 - 10 International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and Grades 11 and 12 are comprised of Cambridge International Assessment Examinations AS/A Level programme. Highlights of the programme
  • 2018 is the first graduating class of 12th graders from VIS
  • VIS promotes inclusive admissions practices
  • All students are required to complete 24-28 courses to be eligible for VIS Diploma
  • All students are required to complete 4 years of English
  • VIS grade 9-10 IB MYP offerings include: MYP Sciences (integrated biology, chemistry & physics); MYP Arts (Visual & Expressive); MYP Individuals & Societies (history, geography, business & economics).
  • All 11-12 grade students are expected  to complete 3 A-Level Cambridge International courses
  • All mother tongue students are required to take Lithuanian Language & Literature  as well as successfully sit the Lithuanian National Exam for Language and Literature
  • All 10th grade students complete a Personal Project (MYP framework)
  • Cambridge International AS/A Level course offerings began in the 2016-17 school year. As for 2024 - 2025 these include: Computer Science, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Business and History
  • Flexible pathways to learning options include: online AS & A Level courses; credit recovery
  • Throughout grades 9-12 VIS ensures a consistent emphasis on MYP framework ATL’s to ensure life, university, work ready students
  • VIS is proud of an integrated service learning programme

Features of Cambridge AS/A Level Program at VIS

  • A rigorous, fast paced two year program. Typically students complete AS levels in grade 11 and A levels in grade 12. However, each level has an external examination, which determines completion of each year. 

  • Students are expected to enrol in 3 AS/A level courses, in addition to two required core courses. 

  • Students with A level qualifications are accepted at all universities and colleges around the world (with exceptions for certain AS/A level courses). 

  • Exam fees are not included in the tuition fees.
