Celebrating Our Tech Innovators!

We are thrilled to announce that a VIS student team achieved Semifinalist level in the Technovation Girls Challenge!

Technovation is the world’s largest tech entrepreneurship competition for young women, drawing over 12,000 participants annually. This achievement is remarkable because our girls, Laura and Mėda, who were in grade 6 and 7 at the time, were the only semifinalists representing Lithuania and the Baltic countries on this global stage.

Backed by UNESCO and tech giants, the curriculum requires girls to not just code an app, but to build a comprehensive, viable business model and pitch video. Competing against teams from up to 150 countries, they spent over 40 hours building an original application called “STEAM Girls”. The app combats gender stereotypes by fostering a strong sense of STEAM identity among young girls. It features interactive elements such as quiz games about women innovators, a support chat, inspiring books, and hands-on experiments. Reaching the Semifinalist round means their project scored in the top tier globally, evaluated by international tech executives.

This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and support of our VIS parent, Alexandrina Satnoianu, who guided the girls every step of the way. We are incredibly proud of their drive to solve community problems using technology!
