Academics

VIS strives to provide a challenging, inquiry-based curriculum in English where all students have the opportunity to experience success.

Global Citizenship at VIS

VIS acknowledges the intersectionality of global citizenship and diversity, inclusion and belonging. We refer to the language from our mission statement, “culturally proficient human being,” to capture the essence of that intersection.

Student Support

VIS is committed to meeting the needs of the students in our care, whether this be academic, social or emotional. Support for student achievement and well-being comes in many forms ranging from differentiating instruction to identifying a peer mentor to support adjustment to their new environment.

Often, student support is provided in a more targeted manner by a teacher or school counsellor. This may come in the form of English language instruction, learning support,  enrichment opportunities, counselling advice when engaging in course selection or university admissions, or consultations with a school psychologist.

Co-curricular Programmes

This programme is embedded in VIS’ curriculum and aims to maintain long-term partnerships with various communities around us. Many of our service projects are designed as interdisciplinary units. This means that different subject area teachers team up for a more authentic experience.

We believe that learning and personal development take place not only in the classroom but are also enhanced by interacting with community in meaningful ways as well as applying academic knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to life situations.
