VIS Summer camp guest. Yesterday at VIS we had a special guest – Mr. Anastacio Juras, an environmental scientist for the Brazilian state energy company studying environmental impact of hydro electrical power station dams on the environment. He told the children about the fish ecology and how dams affect fish population and species. The kids asked the scientist many different questions about his life in the rainforest and were happy to remember what they learned during geography and science classes.

Welcome to the 2nd VIS SCIENCE FAIR on April 30, Friday 2-3 pm.
Location: Pre-k, Kindergarten and Grades 1/2 will be in their rooms.
Grade 3, 4, 5, 6/7 - VIS gym, 1 floor.
Messy experiments – the school yard (weather permitting) or VIS café otherwise.
Every student will participate either in a team or with an individual project of their own choosing. Our youngest PreK 2 kids are preparing a project on mixing colours, Grade 3 will have their crazy inventions projects, and Grade 4 will present their Energy projects. Grade 5-7 projects do not follow one theme but include various projects, for instance, on sleep deprivation, air pressure, hot air balloons, dry ice, etc. Make sure you have your cameras!
2010-04-19: VIS participated in Cleaning Campaign Darom 2010
On April 16 and 17, VIS students, their parents and teachers participated in the Darom 2010 Clearing Campaign. VIS team worked at the foot of the Hill of Three Crosses and in the neighbourhood of the „Lietuva“ Cinema. They collected 29 bags of trash!
We would like to thank all the participants from VIS and especially the Darom School coordinator Vilma Voroblevaite, VIS Lithuanian language teacher!

Darom 2010. VIS students and teachers proactively responded to the encouragement by Ministry of Education of Lithuania and Vilnius Municipality by joining the social environmental clearing event „Darom 2010“ on April 17.

The team from Utena Education Center – 12 education specialists – are coming to VIS to learn about International Baccalaureate programme that VIS has been successfully implementing in the classroom and discuss further cooperation and both national and international educational project development perspectives.

2010-03-04: Limited traffic in Old town on March 5-7!
Please be aware that the streets to Old Town – Gediminas Av., Šventaragio, Barboros Radvilaitės, Maironio, Pilies ir Didžioji Streets- will be closed tomorrow as Vilnius prepares for Kaziuko Muge. We will tell the police standing at the entrance to Old Town to allow VIS parents access to school, but the situation will likely be complicated nevertheless. We will do our best to be available in the morning and afternoon to assist children whose parents cannot make it to Rusu Street.
